Welcome To Professional Persian Gulf Group
Welcome to Persian Gulf Group (PGG), an independent filmmaking collective from Iran. Founded in 2003 by, PGG has grown from humble beginnings to become a vibrant and dynamic hub for creative storytelling and innovative film production.
The journey of PGG began with a simple home video project in 2003. This modest project sparked a passion for filmmaking and led to the formation of the group initially known as PersianCo. The founders, all teenagers, shared a love for cinema and a desire to create meaningful content despite limited resources and technical challenges.
From 2003 to 2007, PGG navigated the early days of digital filmmaking, experimenting with various techniques and formats. Despite facing numerous obstacles, including the lack of professional equipment and funding, the group’s determination never wavered.
The year 2008 was pivotal for PGG. The group expanded its focus to include documentary filmmaking. Their first major project, a documentary about the 2008 Olympics, required extensive coordination and introduced PGG to new professional networks and opportunities. This period also saw internal changes, with new members joining and contributing to the group’s evolving vision.
In 2009, PGG underwent a rebranding phase, officially adopting the name Persian Gulf Group. This new identity reflected the group’s broadened scope and professional aspirations. The same year, the group formed a new board of directors, including Pardis Azizi, Nima Sayar, & Mir Saba Madani.
